!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! And why do you think the fact that this once resembled a Charger is worth $3999? Full ad is below.
“Car has a full rust free frame to start from only asking 3999 for it first person with cash takes it sand blast it and pound out some metal, replace some other metal and you will have a great car to start with that the whole underside isn’t rotted out of!”
At what point does wishful thinking become delusional?

I also encountered a crack pipe charger today. https://porthuron.craigslist.org/cto/d/1968-dodge-charger-t-440/6272611978.html

That’s just as good as this 06 WRX STi for $2600!

Of course the frame is rust free. A Charger is Unibody.

“frame” - hahahaha
That said, if the build tags are there and show any of the higher end motors, this thing probably still can pull $4k CAD- Mopar values are batshit crazy.

Exactly - it’s not a ‘rust free frame’ it’s ‘frame free rust’

There’s no frame in that car either. Unibody.
I think if the tag shows a 440 or 426, it’s got some value even without the motor itself, because people are nuts.

Yeah, today I learned.
People are nuts. Hence why someone is trying to sell this pile of rust.

Chargers from this era are mostly at CP prices in any condition. I love these cars, but the valuations are mostly insane - and completely insane for the 440 and Hemi cars.

I’d be must more interested in this Duster , to be honest. I feel the same way you do about Chargers.

I agree with you, but 19JRC99 is right. The R/T came with a 440 -4 as the base engine. If that motor in there is original, they’ll get that price for it. Might get it even if the motor isn’t original.

Still seems like a lot of dough for a rusty roller - but if you think of it as a blank canvas, you could make something really awesome out of that shell. A LOT of great engine choice possibilities...
That blue interior haunts me a bit though - I had a ‘74 Dart many years ago, with pretty much the same interior, except it was 100% dark blue. Car was a POS (for $650, you’d expect nothing less).

If the guy’s looking to get rid of it, lowballing is always an option. Needs some rust work, but I love the idea of cramming a 6.4 litre Hemi into an older Mopar.

The ask is $2,800 US, so yeah, it’s not unreasonable to lob one in for half that and see what he says?
Shit, if you stuff that in, you’re going to have to really beef up everything behind it. That’s a lot more twist than this ever came from the factory with—

Doesn’t matter. If this has a VIN tag that starts XS29L8 it is worth good cash, and XS29J8 really good cash.

I’m just dreaming and not serious. Lacking the funds, skill, and space for it.
The real dream is to take a Plymouth GTX and try to put in the 8.4 litre V10 from a Viper, but that’ll never happen.
WilliamsSW

08/31/2017 at 13:43 | 1 |
So, same as me then?
Nah on that V10 for me-- I’d much rather throw a Hellcat in. Fit would be easier. TBH on a GTX though, I would want a 440-6.

Check out Diplodicus’ link (Port Huron CL) - that’s the basket case my comment referred to. It’s an R/T *with* a motor in it - for $15k.

Hantavirus for no additional charge!
Would need to look closer to confirm that the motor is a 440 (and a 1968) - I personally don’t know Mopars well enough to do it on sight, and suspect a 383 looks the same externally anyways (?).
Bring a mask to look at it!

7500 near where I’m at. There’s two other old chrysler products in the listing for about a third of that.
I like the body style but every single one that’s obtainable is in need of an everything restoration.
